Hey, how's she goin. How long has it been? 5 months? Where does the time go? I've been pretty slack when it comes to updating the gossip section, and have no excuses, so I won't try to make any. Let's just get down to business.
Things have been pretty much status quo for the last while, we have been playing a pretty steady pace, except for the month of January, which we decided to take off. I headed down stateside for a while and BOOM! the company that hosted our website goes bankrupt. Just my luck. So, for those of you that were wondering, that is why the site was down for most of January and February. As you can see, we are back up now and fully functional and ready to keep you updated.
In February we played at the Hershey Center in Mississauga to help raise money for breast cancer research. The actual fundraising activity was a Bike-a-thon, with over 100 teams riding non-stop for 24 hours. Team members were each responsible for manning the bike for an hour, and gathering pledges. Special thanks go out to our soundman Kevin Woodburn, who took it upon himself to organize a team and enter the "Kitchen Party Cycle" into the days events. Also many thanks to everyone who took the time to ride it for us. You guys rock. All in all, over 350 000 dollars was raised for breast cancer research, with our cycle raising over 2600!
We were recently approached by Oland's Brewing Company (who happen to own Keith's beer) to do some shows in the Toronto area. Seeing how all of us have been known to have sipped a Keith's or two in our time, we felt obligated to help spread the word about this great Nova Scotian brew to the people of Ontario. Not that we really have to. In talking to one of the Keith's sale reps, they currently have an 18% market share, making them the best selling beer in Ontario right now! Good to see another Nova Scotia import like ourselves doing well. We signed on to do about 13 shows, and have 4 remaining. We've really enjoyed ourselves, it's given us a chance to play some pubs we usually wouldn't have had the opportunity to, and to meet some new people and gain some new fans. Check out our appearances section to see the dates that are left.
Another St. Partick's day has come and gone, and as usual, we were at Failte's Irish Pub in Mississauga for the day. There were actually people waiting at the door at 11:00 in the morning, and the place had a line up from 3 in the afternoon onwards. After playing shows Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, we strolled back into Failte and started playing at 3:00 in the afternoon, and continued on until 2:30 in the morning. What else can we say? The place was absolutely packed, and it ranks up there as one of our most memorable performances. Special thanks to all those that stayed from open to close, you guys are real troopers.
Well, that's it for now, I'll be back soon, within three weeks, and next time, I'll have a major announcement concerning the band. What, you may ask? Stay tuned!!!
