Born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Kevin (vocals, mandolin, bodhran, tin whistle, guitar, percussion) has always shown an interest in music from an early age. He was singing by the age of five, and wrote his first song at the tender age of eight. Music ran in the family, Kevin's Dad could play and sing, and his older sister Kathleen was an accomplished classical guitarist at an early age. He was often asked to sing along with her for relatives at family gatherings, and learned the skill of harmony from these performances, along with songs like "Farewell to Nova Scotia".

At the age of 13, he bugged his parents for a bass for Christmas, so he could join a couple of friends in his first band. Unfortunately, the band folded after its first performance, the Junior High School variety concert. After this, he bought his first guitar, and his sister and father taught him how to play. He continued to play bass and guitar in various bands throughout high school, covering material from Metallica to Van Morrison to Simon and Garfunkel, all the while performing in his High School's Stage band, choir, and jazz choir.
Kevin worked in radio for two years after High School, before moving to Toronto in 1993. After meeting up with James and Travis, they formed The Kitchen Party, and the rest, as they say, is history. He picked up the bodhran, mandolin and tin whistle along the way, and continues to learn new things and new songs. Although now residing in Phoenix, Arizona, he is more than happy to hop on a plane and join the boys in TO for a show whenever possible!
