The lone Cape Bretoner in the band, James (Guitar, Mandolin and Vocals), hails from Troy, Nova Scotia. Growing up in a family that's flooded with musicians, James was more than willing to keep the celidh alive. The old house in Troy always had some sort of music going on inside...his father sings and plays the guitar...his little sister sings and plays the fiddle as well as an assortment of other instruments...and as for the rest of the girls...they're also known to sing a tune or two. Over the years, he was able to hone his skills at many's a good Kitchen Party with friends and family.

As a young fella, James was interested in everything from Led Zeppelin to Neil Young. It wasn't until his late teens that he began to realize how "cool" celtic music actually was. Growing up in the same town as Natalie MacMaster and Ashley MacIsaac, and seeing first hand what they were able to do with their music, it was hard not to fall in love with it.

After moving to Toronto in 1993, to attend College, he continuously bumped into people from "back home". Between school, hockey and the many parties, that were attended by so many East Coasters, it wasn't long before he joined forces with Travis and Kevin to form their first party band, Rock Lobster. That lasted for a couple of weeks. Then, with the addition of Mike on bass, and now Jon, the Kitchen Party began...Cheers
